Proclamation thanking the Honorable Thomas Sray for his many years of dedicated service to South Fayette Township.

Body...

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; individuals such as The Honorable Thomas Sray, who has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and strong leader; and

WHEREAS, in 1994, because of his leadership, confidence and community presence, Thomas Sray was elected to serve as a Commissioner for South Fayette Township; In January 2014, after 20 years of dedicated service, Commissioner Sray announced his retirement from the Board; and

WHEREAS, Commissioner Sray is widely admired as an exceptional individual and he is considered a highly effective spokesperson for the disability community; for his efforts, Keystone Coach Works, a mobility transportation and automotive company in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania has named him local spokesman for May’s National Mobility Awareness Month; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure on the South Fayette Board of Commissioners, Mr. Sray, along with the parks and recreation director and other elected officials, secured grants to build accommodating parking spaces and accessible trails and walkways to fields at Boy’s Home, Morgan, Fairview and Sturgeon Parks; and

WHEREAS, in addition to these township improvements, Commissioner Sray was instrumental in the purchase and development of the former Star City Cinema building, which will become the new South Fayette Civic Center, housing the township’s administrative offices, the police department and the library;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize The Honorable Thomas Sray for his contributions to South Fayette Township and to the enhancement of the well-being of the citizens of South Fayette and Allegheny County.
