Proclamation honoring Ms. Michele P. Matuch for her 40 years of dedicated service to UPMC McKeesport and the community.

WHEREAS, on January 10, 2015, Ms. Michele P. Matuch will be honored upon her retirement following forty years of dedicated service to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) McKeesport; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Matuch began her career with McKeesport Hospital, now UPMC McKeesport, in December 1974; and
WHEREAS, in 1994, Ms. Matuch joined the McKeesport Hospital Foundation and in 2000, was named as its Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure, Ms. Matuch has served as event coordinator for one of the foundation's largest fundraisers, the UPMC McKeesport Invitational, which has raised more than $2.6 million dollars since 1977; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Matuch spearheaded the development of the UPMC Health Care Apprenticeship Program, which provides high school students with hands-on experience in a hospital setting. She helped to establish the Lions Diabetes Center at UPMC McKeesport. Ms. Matuch led the planning and capacity building stages of the McKeesport Healthier Communities PartnerSHIP (State Health Improvement Plan) and her involvement with the Mon River Fleet SHIP has resulted in programs and services benefitting the residents of Braddock, Clairton, Duquesne and McKeesport; and
WHEREAS, through the years, Ms. Matuch has served with many community groups, including District 14 Lions Club, Rotary, Good Neighbor Council, Carnegie Library of McKeesport, Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce, Mon Valley Providers Council, the 9th Street Clinic, Kiwanis, UPMC McKeesport Women's Auxiliary, Noah's Ark, Downtown McKeesport Association and Housing Opportunities, Inc.;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby thank Ms. Michele P. Matuch for her 40 years of dedicated service to UPMC McKeesport and the community.
