Proclamation celebrating the achievements of women of color from February 15-March 15, 2015 during "Women of Color HERStory Month" created by New Voices Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Women of Color HERStory Month® (WOCHM) is a citywide celebration of the power, legacy and achievements of women of color that has been held annually since 2008 from February 15 to March 15 between Black History and Women's History Months; and
WHEREAS, on February 21st at Alloy Studios, WOCHM will host a screening of the documentary film "Out in the Night" with Terrain Dandridge of the NJ4, and on February 26th the Women of Color Social Network will host its second Wine Tasting at TOAST!; and
WHEREAS, this celebration of the culture, legacy and achievements of women of color in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, across the country and around the world is presented by New Voices Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh is building a social change movement dedicated to the health and well-being of Black women and girls through leadership development, Human Rights and Reproductive Justice; and
WHEREAS, New Voices Pittsburgh is the only Human Rights and social change organization for women of color, led by women of color and about women of color in Pittsburgh and is deeply committed to improving the health, well-being and quality of life for Black women and girls;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby celebrate the achievements of women of color during the Women of Color HERStory Month® from February 15 to March 15, 2015, and we thank New Voices Pittsburgh for creating the Women of Color HERStory Month®.
