This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko upon the momentous occasion of his retirement from the Whitehall Police Department after 40 years of dedicated service. Mr. Danko, a Pittsburgh native, graduated from Pennsylvania State University where he majored in political science and pre-law.  Mr. Danko was sworn in on Christmas Eve in 1974 and started with the Whitehall Police Department as a patrolman on January 1, 1975.  In May 1983, Mr. Danko was promoted to lieutenant, and in 2005, he was promoted to deputy chief.  Deputy Chief Danko was a member of the South Hills Drug Task Force and spent several years as the director, overseeing nearly 100 cases.  For 19 years, Deputy Chief Danko served as a mandatory training instructor for Municipal Police Officers' Training and Education Commission training more than 1,000 officers in Allegheny County.  Deputy Chief Danko served as the secretary of the Borough and Township Police Association for more than 20 years and served two terms as the organization's president. Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko, commend his long and distinguished service, and wish him and his family all the best in his future endeavors.
