Proclamation celebrating women of character, courage, and commitment and declaring March 2015 to be "Women's History Month" in Allegheny County.
 
Body...
 
      WHEREAS, each year the United States designates March as National Women's History Month to ensure that the history of American women will be recognized and celebrated in schools, workplaces, and communities throughout the country; and
 
      WHEREAS, American women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made historic contributions to the growth and strength of our County, our Commonwealth and our Nation in countless ways; and
 
      WHEREAS, the 2015 theme for National Women's History Month is "Weaving the Stories of Women's Lives;" and
 
      WHEREAS, Allegheny County is proud to recognize the history, accomplishments, and promising future of women in our community and to set aside the month of March for this important time of appreciation;
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby proclaim March 2015 "Women's History Month" in Allegheny County.
 
FURTHERMORE, we call upon the residents of Allegheny County to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities that honor the history, accomplishments, and contributions of American women.
