This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Ms. Becky Coger, a garden steward for the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, for her more than four decades of service tending to community gardens in Pittsburgh's North Side. Ms. Coger used her 1984 GMC truck, loading mulch, soil, vegetables and flowers into it, to care for six community gardens in the North Side. On October 10, 2014, Ms. Coger's reliable truck was demolished by a speeding driver. The Northside Leadership Conference spearheaded an effort to raise $5,000 to purchase a replacement vehicle for Ms. Coger. The Conference collected $10,000 from 130 North Side neighbors and purchased Ms. Coger a new truck. On Thursday, January 29, 2015, Ms. Coger was presented with a 2003 red Dodge Ram pickup truck at the Priory Hotel in the North Side. This Council recognizes Ms. Becky Coger for her faithful service to the North Side community, and we acknowledge that Ms. Coger serves as an inspiration to this Council and to the citizens of Allegheny County.
