This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to the White Oak Borough Recreation Board upon the occasion of its 50th Anniversary. Parks and recreation programs are an integral part of communities throughout Allegheny County. Our parks and recreation are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life in our communities, ensuring the health of all citizens, and contributing to the economic and environmental wellbeing of a community and region. Parks and recreation programs increase a community's economic prosperity through increased property values, expansion of the local tax base, increased tourism, the attraction and retention of businesses, and crime reduction. Our parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our community and provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors. The members of the White Oak Recreation Board are responsible for the planning and hosting of various events throughout the year, including a spring and fall craft show, an Easter Egg Hunt, a Halloween Parade, Community Day, and an Evening with Santa. This Council congratulates and thanks the White Oak Borough Recreation Board for its 50 years of dedicated service to the community.
