Proclamation congratulating Ms. Swin Cash for earning the Chuck Cooper Foundation Career, Leadership, Diversity and Community Service Award.

WHEREAS, McKeesport Area High School basketball legend and Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) star, Swintayla "Swin" Marie Cash, was honored at the 5th Annual Chuck Cooper Foundation Awards Luncheon on February 18, 2015 with the foundation's Career, Leadership, Diversity and Community Service Award; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chuck Cooper III, Chuck Cooper's son and founder and president of the Chuck Cooper Foundation, recognized Ms. Cash as an embodiment of his father's spirit and legacy, someone who was able to carve out a path in life because of his father's groundbreaking career in the National Basketball Association (NBA); and
WHEREAS, Ms. Cash, an All-American who majored in Communication Science at the University of Connecticut (UConn), is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist who plays for the New York Liberty; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Cash is the Founder of Cash for Kids which motivates, educates and elevates children, primarily from McKeesport and Pittsburgh, through sports and cultural activities; Ms. Cash also holds basketball camps and clinics under her company, Swin Cash Enterprises, LLC; and Ms. Cash is the Founder of Cash Building Blocks, LP, an urban development company that renovates and offers affordable homes for low income families;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Ms. Swin Cash for earning the Chuck Cooper Foundation Career, Leadership, Diversity and Community Service Award, and we commend Ms. Swin Cash for her extraordinary service to the community.
