This Certificate of Achievement is presented to the West Mifflin Area Middle School in recognition of winning the 2015 Edmentum Spring Academic Sprints Contest featuring Study Island in the Middle School Category by earning an average of 20 Blue Ribbons per student. At the West Mifflin Area Middle School, 421 students participated in the web-based standards mastery program Study Island, where students can test themselves in language arts, math and science. The school was awarded the title of "The Elite 20," which means it had 20 or more students in the top 100 earning blue ribbons for success in online lessons. The school was also granted the status of "Blue Ribbon Club," which means it had an average of 10 Blue Ribbons per student. Fifty students from West Mifflin Area Middle School were in the top 200, including one seventh-grader, 48 sixth-graders, and one fifth-grader; no other school in the country had as many students in the top 200. We commend and congratulate the West Mifflin Area Middle School for earning the top middle school rating out of 723 schools nationwide. The school has set a high standard of commitment and fervor that the youth of our great county may follow, and it serves as an inspiration to this Council and to the citizens of Allegheny County.
