Proclamation declaring the month of May 2015 as "Southwest Airlines 10th Anniversary Month" in Allegheny County.

Body...

WHEREAS, Southwest Airlines is celebrating its 10th anniversary of providing air service at Pittsburgh International Airport; and

WHEREAS, a celebration titled "10 Days of LUV for Southwest" will occur May 4-13, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Southwest began service on May 4, 2005, with nonstop flights to four cities - Las Vegas, Orlando, Chicago and Philadelphia - from Pittsburgh, and has grown today to 12 cities and nearly 30 flights per day; and

WHEREAS, Southwest recently announced that it will add new nonstop service from Pittsburgh to Dallas Love Field on August 9; and

WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Airport Authority wishes to honor Southwest's outstanding commitment and partnership in serving travelers in the Pittsburgh region, recognize the company's growth and success over the past 10 years and raise awareness of the destinations Southwest currently serves from Pittsburgh;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Southwest Airlines and its employees on this exciting anniversary and declare the month of May 2015 as "Southwest 10 year Anniversary Month" in Allegheny County. We wish all involved many more years of success.
