Proclamation recognizing Mason Sheets and Lili McGrath for being named the 2015 Boy & Girl of the Year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

WHEREAS, it is the sense of our distinguished society to recognize the courage and bravery of unique citizens of our great County, we acknowledge with respect and admiration, the contributions of two dedicated members of our society; and
WHEREAS, Lili McGrath and Mason Sheets have been chosen as the Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's 2015 Girl and Boy of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the Boy and Girl of the Year are chosen by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for their strength and courage in battling leukemia who serve as examples of thousands of children across the United States who are winning the war against blood cancer; and
WHEREAS, Lili and Mason, in their role as Girl and Boy of the Year, serve as inspirations for local Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man and Woman of the Year candidates to raise awareness and monetary contributions to find a cure for all blood cancers; and
WHEREAS, because of their strength and the sacrifices of their families, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is one step closer to achieving its goal to find a cure for blood cancer so that children like Lili and Mason do not suffer the injustice of blood cancer in years to come;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Mason Sheets and Lili McGrath for being named the 2015 Boy and Girl of the Year by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and we commend their bravery, dedication and commitment to the people of Allegheny County and our region.
