Proclamation declaring the week of May 17-23, 2015 as "Public Works Week" in Allegheny County.
 
Body...
 
WHEREAS, public works infrastructure, facilities and services are of vital importance to the health, safety and well-being of the people of Allegheny County; and
 
WHEREAS, such facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, engineers and administrators; and
 
WHEREAS, these individuals represent all levels of government and are responsible for and must design, build, operate, and maintain the transportation, water supply, sewage and refuse disposal systems, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential to serve our citizens; and
 
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest for the citizens and civic leaders of this country to gain knowledge of, and maintain an interest in, the public works needs and programs of their respective communities; and
 
WHEREAS, the year 2015 marks the 55th annual National Public Works Week;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby designate the week of May 17-23, 2015 as PUBLIC WORKS WEEK in Allegheny County. Council urges all citizens to join with representatives of governmental agencies and the American Public Works Association in activities and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, and administrators and to recognize the substantial contributions they have made to our national health, safety, welfare and quality of life.
