Proclamation congratulating Ms. Patricia Kurzawski upon the occasion of her retirement after 41 years of dedicated service with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Patricia Kurzawski joined the Allegheny County Coroner's Office in 1974, and since that time has served as an Autopsy Technician 2, Supervisor of the Autopsy Department, Manager of the Autopsy Department, and since December 29, 2005, when the department changed from a coroner to a medical examiner system, Mrs. Kurzawski has served as the Manager of the Autopsy and Histology Sections for the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure, Mrs. Kurzawski assisted several notable coroners/medical examiners including Dr. Cyril Wecht, Dr. Joshua Perper, Dr. Sanford Edberg, Dr. F. James Gregis, Dr. Abdulrezak Shakir and Dr. Karl E. Williams; and
WHEREAS, in addition to Mrs. Kurzawski acting as the physician's assistant, her duties included record keeping, preparation for post mortem exams, collection and transfer of evidence and preparation of tissue samples for histology. In her managerial role, Mrs. Kurzawski was responsible for implementing and adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), evaluating Autopsy/Histology staff members, scheduling and providing continuing education and training, and interviewing new job candidates; and
WHEREAS, for 41 years, Mrs. Kurzawski ensured that the Allegheny County Autopsy Section functioned in a timely and professional manner;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby honor Mrs. Patricia Kurzawski for her dedication and distinguished service to the citizens of Allegheny County, and this Council wishes her health and happiness upon the momentous occasion of her retirement.
