Proclamation congratulating Reverend Ernie Strelinski upon the occasion of his 50th Anniversary of his ordination.

WHEREAS, the dedicated spirituality of the citizens of Allegheny County is evident in the success and the diversity of our area's spiritual leaders; and
 
WHEREAS, on May 3, 2015, Reverend Ernest "Ernie" J. Strelinski, a native of Glassport, Pennsylvania, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of his ordination with a Mass and dinner at St. Ursula Catholic Church, Hampton, Pennsylvania; and
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Strelinski was ordained on May 1, 1965 in Saint Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood, and he is the only one of 14 former classmates at St. Vincent Seminary who still works full-time; and
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Strelinski previously served as parochial vicar at St. Bernadette Parish in Monroeville; Resurrection Parish in Brookline; Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Carmichaels, Greene County; and the former Holy Family Parish in Lawrenceville. He is also the former pastor of St. Christopher Parish in Prospect, Butler County and the former pastor of St. John Cantius Parish in Sharpsburg. Reverend Strelinski also worked as a chaplain for teenage offenders at the former Youth Development Center in Waynesburg, Greene County, and for the elderly and infirm at the Kane Regional Center in Ross Township; and
 
WHEREAS, Reverend Strelinski has dedicated his life to encouraging the discouraged and helping those in need, and he is a cherished member of the community;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Reverend Ernie Strelinski upon the occasion of his 50th Anniversary of his ordination, and we thank him for his commitment to serving the community.
