Proclamation congratulating Reverend Dr. Darryl T. Canady of the Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church upon the occasion of his 5th pastoral anniversary and naming Saturday, August 28, 2015 to be “Reverend Dr. Darryl T. Canady Day” in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Darryl T. Canady, a native of Florida, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Banking/Finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia; his Master of Divinity degree from Emory University Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia; and his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia; and

 

WHEREAS, in February 2010, Rev. Canady accepted the call to pastor Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  His perspective on revitalization inside and outside the church, and his leadership qualities were a welcomed addition to the Rodman Street ministry; and

 

WHEREAS, since Rev. Canady’s arrival, over 800 new members have joined Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, and he has created new ministries that are bringing people at Rodman and the community together; and

 

WHEREAS, Rev. Canady has completed the three year Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention Pastoral Excellence Program and has ministered in several cities across the United States and internationally in South Africa and the West Indies; and

 

WHEREAS, the weekend of August 28-30, 2015 Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the five year pastoral anniversary of Rev. Canady; 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby commend Rev. Dr. Darryl T. Canady on five years of service to his congregation and the community, and Council does hereby declare Saturday, August 28, 2015 to be “Rev. Dr. Darryl T. Canady Day” in Allegheny County.
