Proclamation honoring Talon Hoyt for recognizing and thanking our local veterans by creating Project Puzzle Book.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, Talon Hoyt, an 8-year-old from South Fayette Township, was inspired to thank local veterans in a meaningful and personal way after watching World War II documentaries during Mother’s Day weekend; and

 

WHEREAS, with a newfound passion for helping veterans, Talon created “Project Puzzle Book” and, with assistance from his mother Kindra, collected hundreds of puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, board games, playing cards and table games.  He also assembled more than 250 thank you cards from various individuals including fellow classmates; and

 

WHEREAS, on June 24, 2015, Talon presented more than 200 bundles of gifts to the residents of the Veterans Affairs (VA) Pittsburgh Healthcare System, H.J. Heinz campus, a community living center for veterans located in O’Hara Township.  Talon went door-to-door delivering the gifts and thanking veterans; and

 

WHEREAS, Talon plans to make two trips a year with donations, collecting from Memorial Day to Veterans Day and vice versa;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and thank Talon Hoyt for his wisdom in honoring and appreciating the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans through Project Puzzle Book.
