Proclamations awarded to the students that participated in the 2015 Local Government Academy Municipal Intern Program.

 

Body

 

WHEREAS, for the past twenty years, the Local Government Academy has sponsored the Municipal Intern Program for college and graduate students; and

 

WHEREAS, students who participate in the program gain invaluable experience with municipal governments, councils of governments, and municipal authorities across Western Pennsylvania; and

 

WHEREAS, during the course of the program, students complete internships with diverse subject matter concentrations, such as financial management, human resources, geographic information systems, comprehensive planning, economic development, intergovernmental cooperation, planning and zoning and code enforcement; and

 

WHEREAS, by providing these experiences to individuals, fostering their interest in local government, and helping to train the next generation of local leaders, the Local Government Academy has provided invaluable assistance to the governments within Allegheny County and those of its surrounding areas; and

 

WHEREAS, Allegheny County Council recognizes and commends the vision of the Local Government Academy in providing a Municipal Internship opportunity in 2015;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby salutes the achievement, scholarship, and dedication of the students who have completed their internships and who have provided assistance to municipalities throughout Western Pennsylvania.  Your enthusiastic willingness in pursuing this endeavor demonstrates your commitment to serving the citizens of our region, and for this we commend you.
