This Certificate of Achievement is presented to the Carnegie Mellon University’s Small-Size Robot Soccer Team, the CMDragons, for winning its fifth World Championship at the 2015 RoboCup in Heifi, China. The team worked to develop six robots capable of performing at high levels while adapting to constantly changing environments during the course of a match. The matches are played with an orange golf ball in a field of predefined size with line markings. Referee commands and team strategies are communicated to the robots by computer while overhead cameras use an algorithm that determines each robot’s position on the field. The research focus is on teamwork, including positioning and ball passing, and the CMDragons did not allow a goal throughout the tournament’s six matches. An accomplishment of this nature requires an extremely high level of team commitment and discipline, in terms of ideas and software development. Carnegie Mellon University RoboCup SSL teams are led by Professor Manuela Veloso, and have participated in the competition since the first RoboCup in 1997. The CMDragons have won the competition five times (1997, 1998, 2006, 2007, 2015), making them the current leader of the RoboCup Robot Soccer Small-Size League Hall of Fame. On behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, we congratulate and commend the CMDragons for winning the 2015 RoboCup. This achievement has conferred honor on this County and is an accomplishment in which the entire community can be proud.
