Proclamation congratulating Ms. Janet K. Williams upon the occasion of her retirement after 21 years of dedicated service to the Wilkinsburg Family Support Center.

WHEREAS, Ms. Janet K. Williams is retiring after 21 years of dedicated service to the Wilkinsburg Family Support Center; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams was instrumental in the establishment of the Wilkinsburg Family Support Center. She was hired as the first staff person and served as a Community Organizer, performing initial outreach to the community to market the Center and recruit families to enroll in the program; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams later became the Program Administrator and provided critical support to the parent leaders by assisting them with the development of activities and programs; and
WHEREAS, having a true passion for empowering families to become self-sufficient, Ms. Williams was always the first person to arrive at the Center in the morning and the last person to leave in the evening; and
WHEREAS, as an advocate for family support programs, Ms. Williams gave families a voice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Williams is the proud parent of five (5) children and the proud grandparent of nine (9) grandchildren;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Ms. Janet K. Williams upon the momentous occasion of her retirement, and we thank her for her dedication and commitment to serving families and enhancing the quality of life in our community.
