Proclamation celebrating the founding of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the New Leaders Council and Institute and congratulating the inaugural New Leaders Fellows on their achievement.

WHEREAS, New Leaders Council (NLC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that engages a diverse, collaborative national network of progressive political entrepreneurs; and
WHEREAS, the New Leaders Council recruits Fellows from outside traditional power structures and equips them with the skills necessary to be civic leaders in their communities and workplaces and guarantees no financial barriers to participants through New Leaders Council Institutes; and
WHEREAS, New Leaders Council graduates are an ever-expanding corps of diverse, new progressive leaders who are rising to the top of their respective fields creating an exciting network of individuals, highly-skilled in working together across sectors to improve the progressive infrastructure and ensure strong democracy, social justice, and equal opportunity; and
WHEREAS, the New Leaders Council Institutes were held in 35 Cities nationwide in 2015, training nearly 700 new leaders across sectors joining more than 3,000 alumni across the globe; and
WHEREAS, in 2015, a committed all-volunteer board of Erin Belitskus, Jennifer England, Kyle Gracey, Jeannette Hickman, Selena Schmidt, Emma Shoucair, and Megan Winters launched a New Leaders Council Chapter and Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and on June 29, 2015, the NLC Institute in Pittsburgh graduated the inaugural cohort of Fellows;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council hereby celebrates the founding of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the New Leaders Council and Institute and congratulates the inaugural New Leaders Fellows on their achievement.
