Proclamation thanking Thrill Mill, Inc. for creating an annual festival dedicated to supporting local entrepreneurs and declaring Saturday, September 26, 2015 to be “Thrival Day” in Allegheny County.

 

Body...

 

WHEREAS, founded in 2012, Thrill Mill, Inc., is an independent, nonprofit organization that serves as Pittsburgh’s premier incubator/accelerator for early-stage startups from across all industries; and

 

WHEREAS, Thrill Mill, Inc. created the Thrival Innovation + Music Festival in 2013 to support local entrepreneurs with a portfolio of resources to grow their ideas free of charge and to introduce Pittsburgh as the world leader in post-industrial economic development; and

 

WHEREAS, this year, Thrival will feature 30 events on a citywide “innovation campus” using strategic locations in Allentown, the South Side, the Hill District, East Liberty and Larimer, and will conclude with a two-day outdoor concert showcasing 25 musical performances by national headliners and the best of our local talent, at Hazelwood’s Almono site, a former industrial brownfield; and

 

WHEREAS, the interactive and free programs of Thrival will highlight Pittsburgh’s startups, creative leaders and innovators and will focus on themes including, 21st Century Cities & Global Leadership, Education Frontiers, the Health & Wellness Revolution, Entrepreneurship, Investment & Growth Strategy, New Media, Gaming & Information Sharing, Creative Reuse, Sustainability & the Arts;   

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby thank Thrill Mill, Inc. for creating an annual festival dedicated to supporting local entrepreneurs, and we hereby declare Saturday, September 26, 2015 to be “Thrival Day” in Allegheny County.
