Proclamation congratulating H.E.A.R.T.H. upon the occasion of its 20th anniversary and thanking the agency for serving vulnerable families in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, the non-profit organization H.E.A.R.T.H. (Homelessness Ends with Advocacy, Resources, Training, and Housing) is celebrating 20 years of helping homeless women and their families become independent, self-sufficient, and adequately housed; and
WHEREAS, domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and children, because many women who flee their abusers have no place to go, face discrimination, and lose hours at work; and
WHEREAS, H.E.A.R.T.H. helps families stabilize and thrive by providing transitional housing to homeless women with children and permanent supportive housing for women with a mental health or physical disability; and
WHEREAS, for 20 years, H.E.A.R.T.H. has addressed the needs of vulnerable families and children by providing flexible, coordinated support services, tailored to each family’s situation, helping them rebuild and maintain stability and self-sufficiency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate H.E.A.R.T.H. upon the occasion of its 20th anniversary, and we thank H.E.A.R.T.H. for creating pathways to opportunity for families and children in Allegheny County.
