Proclamation congratulating Mr. Robert W. Herbert for his election and installation as the 115th Potentate/CEO of Syria Shriners of Pittsburgh and recognizing the Shriners work in our community.

Body...

WHEREAS, Robert W. Herbert has been elected and installed as the 115th Potentate/CEO of Syria Shriners of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, an all-volunteer fraternal organization of Master Masons; and

WHEREAS, Shriners believe in God and that He created man to serve his purpose, among which is service to others, especially care for children who suffer from burns and crippling diseases. The 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children are world renowned for providing the highest quality care for children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries, and other special health care needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment. The Syria Shriners of Pittsburgh are financially responsible for the transport of patients throughout an 11 county area to the specialty Shriners Hospitals in Erie, Philadelphia and Cincinnati, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Robert W. Herbert has utilized his planning, organizational, managerial, financial, and development skills and talents to lead the Syria Shriners into the future with innovative programs and policies to fulfill its mission; and

WHEREAS, Robert W. Herbert has demonstrated his dedication to the belief that “No Man Stands So Tall As When He Stoops To Help A Child” by his long-time efforts toward fundraising and raising awareness of the needs of children; and

WHEREAS, providing the highest quality of specialty medical care for the children in Allegheny County regardless of the family’s ability to pay is greatly appreciated, and we thank Robert W. Herbert and the Syria Shriners for their contributions to our community;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby commend Robert W. Herbert of the Syria Shriners for his dedication to the children of Allegheny County and wish ...
