Proclamation congratulating the Walsh family and Bethel Bakery upon the occasion of its 60th anniversary.

WHEREAS, Mr. Morris Walsh founded Bethel Bakery in 1955 and with his wife, Anna, they built the boutique bakery into one of the busiest and most beloved purveyors of high-quality baked goods in western Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, today, a second generation of the Walsh family manages the bakery. Since 1991, John and his wife, Chris, have carried on the tradition of exceptional quality and customer service that Bethel Bakery is known for; and

WHEREAS, generations of patrons have made their way to the shop for the bakery’s signature pastries, cookies, coffeecakes and one-of-a-kind cakes; and

WHEREAS, Bethel Bakery received the Wedding Wire Couples’ Choice Award (2015), the knot Best of Weddings Award (2014) and the Pittsburgh Business Ethics Award (2012), just to name a few; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, Bethel Bakery’s iconic status in the region was recognized by award-winning documentary filmmaker Rick Sebak, who featured the bakery in his WQED program, What Makes Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Bethel Bakery upon the momentous occasion of its 60th Anniversary, and we join with the Walsh family and friends in celebrating this notable milestone.
