WHEREAS, the American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania will celebrate its seventh annual Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, September 24, 2015, in the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club at PNC Park in Pittsburgh; and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania serves nearly 1.5 million people in Allegheny, Greene, and Washington counties and is part of the 28-county Western Pennsylvania Region; and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross of Southwestern Pennsylvania prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors; and
WHEREAS, the Heroes Breakfast was established to raise public awareness of local heroes and volunteers who carry out the mission of the Red Cross every day;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate and commend the 2015 American Red Cross Heroes who have made a personal commitment to creating safer and stronger communities and providing help when disaster strikes.
