Certificates of Recognition awarded to Sam Bulk and Alvin Catz for their 40 plus years of service to the Beth El Congregation of the South Hills.

This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Mr. Sam Balk, of Mt. Lebanon, for his more than 40 years of service to the Beth El Congregation of the South Hills. Mr. Balk is a past President of Beth El and led services when Beth El was without a rabbi.  Mr. Balk leads the ritual committee, directing members who participate in weekly and holiday services. There are as many as 20 roles that must be filled during each Saturday service.  For the past 40 years, Mr. Balk has been instrumental in ensuring the religious part of Beth El runs efficiently, and he welcomes everyone with warmth, promoting Beth El’s atmosphere of inclusiveness. This Council commends and thanks Mr. Sam Balk for his 40 plus years of dedicated service to members of the Beth El Congregation of the South Hills, and for enhancing the quality of life in the community.

 

 

This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Mr. Alvin Catz, of Mt. Lebanon, for his more than 40 years of service to the Beth El Congregation of the South Hills. Mr. Catz is a past President of Beth El and led services when Beth El was without a rabbi.  Mr. Catz leads the ritual committee, directing members who participate in weekly and holiday services. Mr. Catz also ensures that food preparation is in accordance with Jewish dietary laws during Bar Mitzvah celebrations and other social events. For the past 40 years, Mr. Catz has been instrumental in ensuring the religious part of Beth El runs efficiently, and he welcomes everyone with warmth, promoting Beth El’s atmosphere of inclusiveness. This Council commends and thanks Mr. Alvin Catz for his 40 plus years of dedicated service to members of the Beth El Congregation of the South Hills, and for enhancing the quality of life in the community.
