Proclamation congratulating the Allegheny County Adult DUI Court upon the occasion of its 10th anniversary.

WHEREAS, established in 2005, the Allegheny County Adult Driving Under the Influence, or DUI, Court is one of the Fifth Judicial District of Pennsylvania’s seven problem-solving courts that holds multiple DUI offenders accountable, saves valuable resources, and makes the community safer; and
WHEREAS, the Allegheny County DUI Court facilitates community-wide partnerships, bringing together public safety and public health professionals dedicated to changing the behavior of multiple DUI offenders in Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, in August 2013, the Allegheny County DUI Court obtained accreditation from the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania which demonstrates its adherence to the “Ten Key Components of Drug Courts” along with evidence based practices, established by the National Association of Drug Court Professionals; and
WHEREAS, in 2014, the Allegheny County DUI Court team, consisting of all the criminal justice stakeholders, worked cooperatively to transform the lives of 233 program participants;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Allegheny County Adult DUI Court upon the occasion of its 10th Anniversary, and we thank the Allegheny County Adult DUI Court team for truly making a difference, from reducing substance abuse and recidivism, to reuniting families and making our community safer.
