Proclamation congratulating Shaler Police Detective Mike Heinl for being named a 2015 Friend of Education by the Shaler Area Education Association.

WHEREAS, Shaler Township Police Detective Mike Heinl has been a lifelong supporter of educators, staff and students in the Shaler Area School District; and
WHEREAS, Detective Heinl was overwhelmingly nominated and named a “Friend of Education” by the Shaler Area Education Association, an award program sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) to recognize an individual who has contributed to education each year; and
WHEREAS, Detective Heinl, a 1987 Shaler Area High School graduate, joined the Shaler Police Department in 1995. In 1999, he took over the position of juvenile detective, and in this role, Heinl was instrumental in creating a dialogue between school administrators and the police department; and
WHEREAS, in addition to establishing strong relationships between district officials and local law enforcement, Detective Heinl has dedicated his time and energy to helping at-risk students and their families by providing ongoing support and guidance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Shaler Police Detective Mike Heinl for being named a 2015 Friend of Education by the Shaler Area Education Association, and we thank him for his outstanding contributions and service to the community.
