Proclamation declaring the month of November 2015 to be “Disaster Resilience Month” in Allegheny County.

 

Body...

 

WHEREAS, “Disaster Resilience Month” creates an important opportunity for every resident of Allegheny County to recognize that they have an important role in preparing and planning for all hazards, including natural and manmade incidents; and

WHEREAS, the Disaster Resilience Emergency Management Awareness Pennsylvania (DREMA PA) and The Conscience Group Corporation’s preparedness specialists increase public awareness of the importance of planning and preparing for disasters and emergencies; and  

WHEREAS, DREMA PA and The Conscience Group Corporation use strategies that empower and engage vulnerable populations, increasing their self-reliance; and 

WHEREAS, all Allegheny County individuals, businesses, and communities are encouraged to make emergency planning and preparedness a top priority in their homes, offices and neighborhoods;  

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby proclaims the month of November 2015 as “Disaster Resilience Month” in Allegheny County, and we encourage all citizens of Allegheny County to do their part at home, at work, and in their local communities by preparing for disasters and emergencies, thereby creating a safer and more resilient Allegheny County.
