Proclamation congratulating the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church upon the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

WHEREAS, New Grace Missionary Baptist Church was organized on November 11, 1965 by Founder and Pastor Reverend L.C. Carter, Sr. and has served the residents of the Homewood section of Pittsburgh for 50 years; and
WHEREAS, despite being struck by a fire in 2013, New Grace Missionary Baptist Church, originally located at 7711 Tioga Street was reestablished at 566 Brushton Avenue in Homewood. One year later, the church’s nonprofit, Faith and Hope Community Outreach Ministries (FHCOM) opened the Charity Christian Child Care Center to care for and to educate the children of the community; and
WHEREAS, for the last 6 years, Reverend Aaron L. Watt, Sr. has led the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church, providing stability in these changing times as well as continuing its service to the community; and
WHEREAS, under Pastor Watt’s leadership, the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church has ordained several Deacons and Deaconesses, ordained a Minister, licensed ten Ministers and established training programs for Deacons, Deaconesses and Ministers; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Watt has been instrumental in the growth of the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church creating new auxiliaries to meet the needs of the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church upon the momentous occasion of its 50th Anniversary, and we recognize and commend the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church for serving the community for 50 years.
