Proclamation thanking the Honorable John Ciangiarulo, Jr. for his 24 years of dedicated service to the McKees Rocks Borough.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; individuals such as The Honorable John Ciangiarulo, Jr. who has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and a strong leader; and
WHEREAS, John Ciangiarulo, Jr. served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 82nd Engineers, and he is a proud member of the Italian American War Veterans of the United States; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ciangiarulo retired after 37 years as a specialty welder for the Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Co. where he pioneered the use of ultrasound machines to test the strength of welds. He helped construct the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station in Shippingport, Pennsylvania and the Kinzua Dam on the Allegheny River in Warren County; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ciangiarulo has served as a member of the McKees Rocks Borough Council for 24 years. He also served as a member of the Sto-Rox School Board (1994-1999) and was a founding member of the Char West Council of Governments;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby thank The Honorable John Ciangiarulo, Jr. for his dedicated service to our country and the community. We commend Mr. Ciangiarulo for always acting in the best interests of the constituents of McKees Rocks, and we wish him and his family all the best in the future.
