Proclamation thanking Commissioners David Barie and James Helfrich for their dedicated service to Reserve Township.

 

Body...

 

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; individuals such as The Honorable David E. Barie who has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and a strong leader; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Barie honorably served our country with the U.S. Navy as a “Seabee.” He is married to Pam (35 years) and has one son, David. Mr. Barie retired after 25 years with the Port Authority of Allegheny County, working in the Road Operations Division; and   

WHEREAS, Mr. Barie has served as a Commissioner representing the 1st District of Reserve Township for 20 years.  For the past 12 years, Mr. Barie has served as the Chairman of the Reserve Township Board of Commissioners; and

WHEREAS, through the years, Mr. Barie has served with many community groups, including as Chairman of the Allegheny League of Municipalities Board of Directors; as President of the Allegheny County and Western Pennsylvania Association of Township Commissioners; as President of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Commissioners; and as a Trustee of the Unemployment Compensation Trust;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby thank The Honorable David E. Barie for his dedicated service to the residents of Reserve Township and Allegheny County.  We commend Mr. Barie for always acting in the best interests of the constituents of Reserve Township, and we wish him and his family all the best in the future.   

 

 

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; individuals such as The Honorable James Helfrich who has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and a strong leader; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Helfrich served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the 25th Infantry Division and earned his M.B.A. from Point Park University.  He is married to Patti (31 years) and has two children: Dr. Alison Helfrich, Captain U.S.A.F. and Scott Helfrich, a nursing student; and

WHEREAS, for 20 years, Mr. Helfrich has served as a Commissioner At-Large for Reserve Township, including as President of the Board for one term and Vice-President for four terms. He also served as a member of Reserve Township Emergency Management Services (EMS) and the Mt. Troy Volunteer Fire Company; and 

WHEREAS, Mr. Helfrich is the Vice-President of Trading Systems technology at Bank of New York Mellon in the Wealth Management division. In his free time he is a filmmaker and has produced and directed several short films. He is currently producing a television show with Carnegie Screenwriters called “Fadeln” on PCTV 21; 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby thank The Honorable James Helfrich for his dedicated service to the residents of Reserve Township and Allegheny County.  We commend Mr. Helfrich for always acting in the best interests of the constituents of Reserve Township, and we wish him and his family all the best in the future.
