This Certificate of Achievement is awarded to Mr. Steve R. Barton of Boy Scout Troop 614 in recognition of his attainment of the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, scouting’s most distinguished honor. We commend Mr. Barton’s diligence and skill: two traits he has displayed throughout his scouting career, his growth as a troop leader, and his dedication to our community. For his Eagle Scout service project, once a week during the summer, Mr. Barton taught a ukulele course at the Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services in Homestead.  Mr. Barton, of Brentwood, has played the ukulele for two years and guitar for seven years. He organized a spaghetti dinner at a local church, raised more than $1,000 to purchase ukuleles and trained five volunteers to help teach the class. The six students in the class ranged in age from 15 to 20, with varying degrees of visual impairment, and each student graduated from the program with a ukulele to take home. Throughout his participation in the Boy Scouts, Mr. Steve R. Barton has set a high standard of commitment and fervor that the youth of our great county may follow.  He serves as an inspiration to this Council and to the citizens of Allegheny County.
