Proclamation congratulating Penn Hills Cinemas upon the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
Body...
WHEREAS, the Penn Hills Cinemas in the Penn Hills Shopping Center opened in September 1966 and will celebrate 50 years in the Penn Hills community this year; and
WHEREAS, Penn Hills Cinemas is a first-run theater exhibiting many of the most recent releases on one of its multiple screens; and
WHEREAS, the theater is one of the last remaining independently owned and operated multiplexes in the Pittsburgh area; and
WHEREAS, the year-long celebration will feature classic films that have graced the theater’s screens since the mid-1960s including “Planet of the Apes,” “West Side Story,” “The Graduate,” and “Night of the Living Dead,” all of which played at the Penn Hills Cinemas in their first runs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Penn Hills Cinemas upon the momentous occasion of its 50th Anniversary.
