This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to the members of the 2016 Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee for their work in organizing and carrying out Pittsburgh’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Since its inception, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has been the driving force behind the annual Parade, coordinating and managing all efforts in bringing the community together to ensure the success of this venerated event.  The 2016 parade theme marks a pivotal event that created the Irish Republic, “The Easter Rising of 1916.” Allegheny County Council commends the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee for showcasing Pittsburgh’s distinguished Irish community and thanks them for their diligent efforts and dedication to making the annual Parade an unmatched celebration of Irish heritage.

 

This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to The Irish Society for Education & Charity, Inc. for its dedication to the members of Pittsburgh’s Irish community and to Pittsburgh’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Since 1992 the ISEC has provided sponsorship, leadership and guidance to the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee in its efforts to organize and execute what has been referred to the nation’s second largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The organization also supports Pittsburgh’s Irish community by awarding scholarships to local Irish students and by making donations to area groups and causes. Allegheny County Council commends The Irish Society for Education & Charity for their passionate and tireless efforts to support Pittsburgh’s Irish community and thanks them for all of their numerous contributions.

 

This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Ms. Sarah McAuliffe upon her selection as Grand Marshal of the 2016 Pittsburgh’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Ms. McAuliffe is a second-generation Irish American. She is the President of the Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Irish American Unity Conference (IAUC), past National Treasurer of the IAUC, a National IAUC Board Trustee; and IAUC National Newsletter Editor of which she has been a member since 1991. She is also a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH) Allegheny County Maude Gonne Division 32, Carnegie. She was the First National LAOH Immigration & Legislation Chair, and has served as LAOH Pennsylvania Immigration & Legislation Chair. A LAOH Division 32 Hibernian of the Year, Sarah is currently LAOH Division 32 Freedom for All Ireland Chair, and organizer of the division’s spring flower sale. Allegheny County Council commends Ms. McAuliffe for her passion and dedication to both Pittsburgh’s Irish community and to its St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We congratulate Ms. Sarah McAuliffe upon receiving this honor and thank her for her numerous and immeasurable contributions.

 

This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Mr. Bill O’Neill upon his selection as Allegheny County’s Ancient Order of Hibernians 2016 Hibernian of the Year.  Mr. O’Neill currently serves as the President of the AOH Division 17. His tireless efforts to better others and his unmatched dedication to the Irish Community, and to Allegheny County as a whole, exemplify the characteristics sought after in Allegheny County’s Hibernian of the Year. Allegheny County Council congratulates Mr. Bill O’Neill for the monumental honor bestowed upon him and thanks him for all of his contributions to better our community.

 

This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Ms. Fiona Connolly in honor of being named the 2016 Miss Smiling Irish Eyes of Pittsburgh. Ms. Connolly exhibits distinguished Irish qualities and displays her pride for her Irish heritage by participating in Pittsburgh’s vibrant Irish community. Ms. Connolly, a graduate of Oakland Catholic High School, is enrolled at Duquesne University’s Mylan School of Pharmacy. She has studied abroad in Ireland and has attended the University of Dublin. She is on the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Gaelic Athletic Association (PGAA), where she serves as public relations officer. She is a member of the Pittsburgh Banshees Ladies Gaelic Football Team. By being crowned Miss Smiling Irish Eyes of Pittsburgh, Ms. Connolly will reign over Pittsburgh’s 2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. We congratulate Ms. Fiona Connolly on this fine honor and wish her the best of luck in all of her future endeavors.

 

This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Ms. Delaney Hoolahan in honor of being named a 2016 Miss Smiling Irish Eyes of Pittsburgh Court Maiden. Ms. Hoolahan exhibits distinguished Irish qualities and displays pride for her Irish heritage by participating in Pittsburgh’s vibrant Irish community. Ms. Hoolahan, a graduate of Plum Senior High School, is a sophomore at Robert Morris University (RMU), where she studies Major Media Arts with a concentration in Graphic Arts and Photography. She is a member of the Claddagh Club at RMU and was a member of the Bell School of Irish Dance from ages 2 through 18. She has traveled to Ireland twice with family and has actively researched her family’s history. Ms. Hoolahan demonstrates an outstanding moral spirit by volunteering within organizations that benefit our community. We congratulate Ms. Delaney Hoolahan on this fine honor and wish her the best of luck in all of her future endeavors.

 

This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Ms. Caitlin Weldon in honor of being named a 2016 Miss Smiling Irish Eyes of Pittsburgh Court Maiden. Ms. Weldon exhibits distinguished Irish qualities and displays pride for her Irish heritage by participating in Pittsburgh’s vibrant Irish community. Ms. Weldon, a Hempfield Area High School graduate, is a junior at Penn State University, where she majors in Chemical Engineering and is a Deans List student.  Ms. Weldon studied at the Bell School of Irish Dance for 11 years and is currently a member of the Penn State Irish Dance Troupe, Rince Na Leon. She is helping to organize Penn State’s first Irish Cultural Day, and she is a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division #7, Turtle Creek. Ms. Weldon demonstrates an outstanding moral spirit by volunteering within organizations that benefit our community. We congratulate Ms. Caitlin Weldon on this fine honor and wish her the best of luck in all of her future endeavors.
