Proclamation congratulating Dr. Maureen McClure for being named as a “National Education Finance Conference Distinguished Fellow.”

WHEREAS, on February 12, 2016, during the sixth annual National Education Finance Conference in Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. Maureen McClure was honored with the Distinguished Fellow Award, an award given to the top ten higher education-affiliated professionals who have displayed exemplary research and practice in the field of public education finance; and
WHEREAS, since 1983, Dr. Maureen McClure has been a professor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Education. She is an associate professor of administrative and policy studies and a senior research associate in the Institute for International Studies in Education. From 2004 to 2007, she served as the chair of the Department of Administrative and Policy Studies; and
WHEREAS, Dr. McClure’s research focuses on education for the next generation and making it globally accessible, as well as monitoring state-level support for U.S. public schools, and assisting in rebuilding educational systems in nations that experienced crisis; and
WHEREAS, Dr. McClure earned a Ph.D. in education finance and policy, an M.B.A. in applied economics in the nonprofit sector, and an M.S. in educational administration from the University of Rochester. She also holds a master’s degree in secondary education from Allegheny College; and
WHEREAS, a resident of Oakmont, Dr. McClure has served on the Riverview School Board for the last four years and was recently re-elected and appointed board president, where she proudly serves the students of Oakmont and Verona;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council does hereby honor and congratulate Dr. Maureen McClure for being named as a “National Education Finance Conference Distinguished Fellow.” Allegheny County, our community and citizens wish to recognize Dr. McClure for her dedication, determination, and exemp...
