Proclamation congratulating the Bon Ami Temple No. 49, Daughters of Elk, 2016 Honorees.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals and organizations dedicated to improving our quality of life through many worthy endeavors, especially the Improved Benevolent, Protective Order of Elks of the World, known as Elkdom; when founded in 1898, the fraternal group added a Women’s Auxiliary to help with its many worthwhile activities in 1902; and

 

WHEREAS, on March 19, 2016, the Bon Ami Temple No. 49, Daughters of Elk, will honor outstanding members for their accomplishments and service to Elkdom and their fellow citizens; and

 

WHEREAS, the selfless and spirited members chosen for the 2016 awards include Erica Upshaw-Givner, CEO of Vision Towards Peace Counseling Services will receive the Entrepreneur Award; Melvin Hubbard El, Chief of Staff to State Representative Ed Gainey will receive he Humanitarian Award; William Bill Saunders, House Chairman of the North Side Lodge #124 will receive the Mr. Elk Award; Barbara J. McGill, past presiding ruler of Nancy Wiley Wilson Temple No. 1036 will receive the Ms. Elk Award; and  

 

WHEREAS, their communities and the citizens of Allegheny County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have benefited from their contributions along with the Bon Ami Temple No. 49; 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Bon Ami Temple No. 49, Daughters of Elk, along with this year’s awardees upon this joyous occasion and offers best wishes for continued growth and success for years to come.
