This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Mr. Eugene “Gene” A. Adams in recognition of his 50 years of dedicated volunteer service to the Duquesne Annex Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Adams served as a photographer aboard the USS Lake Champlain for the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge from the Navy, he joined the Duquesne Annex Volunteer Fire Company, West Mifflin No. 2, Station 294, on March 16, 1966. Mr. Adams was responsible for upgrading the company’s equipment and for the purchase of its first rescue truck. Mr. Adams was promoted to Assistant Chief and on December 29, 1976, he became Fire Chief, a position he held for 15 years. Under Mr. Adams leadership, the fire trucks were painted a lime yellow in order to improve visibility at night. Mr. Adams also implemented the Fire Prevention Program in the West Mifflin School District, as well as the Junior Firefighter Program. Today, Mr. Adams serves Station 294 as Lieutenant and Vice-President. We recognize and commend Mr. Eugene “Gene” A. Adams for his unwavering dedication to safety and rescue, and we thank him for his 50 years of watchful protection and service provided to the residents of West Mifflin.
