Proclamation congratulating Hillcrest Christian Academy, a K-8 school located in Bethel Park, upon the occasion of its addition of grades 9-12, the Hillcrest Christian Academy High School.

WHEREAS, Hillcrest Christian Academy has provided students with an outstanding Christian education for 34 years, beginning in 1982 when South Hills Assembly of God purchased the former Hillcrest Elementary School from the Bethel Park School District; and
WHEREAS, in 1982, the Academy began offering classes for preschool through 6th grade and has since expanded its course offerings to include 7th through 12th grades; and
WHEREAS, the Academy opened in 1982 with only 70 students and has had years where well over 300 students were enrolled; and
WHEREAS, the Academy added a middle school wing in 1994, a new gymnasium in 2007 and this year has added seven new middle school/high school classrooms and a fully equipped science lab; and
WHEREAS, the Academy is committed to teaching the minds and training the hearts of America’s young people for many years to come;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Hillcrest Christian Academy upon the occasion of the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s new addition, and we hereby thank the Hillcrest Christian Academy for bringing the best of Christian education to generations of children in the South Hills of Allegheny County.
