Proclamation recognizing the Clairton Volunteer Fire Department’s 28th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is home to historic volunteer fire departments that have maintained a collective dedication to serving our community; and
WHEREAS, since April 25, 1988, under the guidance of City Fire Chief John Lattanzi, the volunteers of the Clairton Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) have continually answered the challenging call of duty by providing 24-hour protection to the City of Clairton and the Borough of Glassport; and
WHEREAS, over the years, many specialty teams have been established within the Clairton VFD, including Hazardous Material Response, Vehicle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Rope Rescue, Rapid Intervention, and SCUBA, among others; and
WHEREAS, all members of the fire department are volunteers, receiving no payment for the time they serve, and the Clairton VFD has distinguished itself as a department of excellence and has demonstrated its commitment to providing the best fire protection in the Mon Valley;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate the Clairton Volunteer Fire Department upon the occasion of its 28th Anniversary. We recognize and commend the Clairton VFD for their unwavering dedication to safety and rescue, and we thank them for the watchful protection and service they provide to the residents of Clairton and Glassport.
