Proclamation honoring the Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise (PACE) for strengthening Allegheny County’s disadvantaged communities and declaring Friday, April 8, 2016 to be “PACE Inclusive Voices Day” in Allegheny County.

 

Body...

 

WHEREAS, Program to Aid Citizen Enterprise (PACE), a partner agency of the United Way of Allegheny County, in a nonprofit funder and management support organization formed during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s; and

 

WHEREAS, PACE has a long history of success supporting and strengthening local community-based nonprofit organizations that potentially or demonstrably can assist African American and economically disadvantaged communities to identify their needs and take effective action; and

 

WHEREAS, the programs of PACE focus on funding and capacity building, community resource development, education, knowledge development and advocacy, and direct consulting services, thus, providing organizational capacity building that strengthens non-profits in ways that enhance their ability to improve the lives of the people they serve, in environments where their services are most critical; and

 

WHEREAS, on Friday, April 8, 2016, PACE will host the 8th Annual Inclusive Voices Luncheon, an event that encourages meaningful conversations between local residents with different perspectives and experiences interested in working together and building bridges of understanding;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby commend PACE for its success in providing a cross-section of Allegheny County and the Greater Pittsburgh area residents, a setting for the easy exchange of ideas and conversations that effect positive change in our region; 

 

FURTHERMORE, Allegheny County Council does hereby declare Friday, April 8, 2016 to be “PACE Inclusive Voices Day” in Allegheny County.
