An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing the use of real property along N. Ridge Drive in the County’s North Park by the Town of McCandless.

Whereas, The County of Allegheny is the owner of real property on N. Ridge Drive in the County’s North Park, known as the Lakeview Shelter; and

Whereas, the Town of McCandless has contacted the County’s Parks Department about using the field adjacent to Lakeview Shelter as a venue for baseball and softball games and practices for McCandless youth; and

Whereas, County Council recognizes the recreational and community service value provided to the County’s residents by making the field adjacent to Lakeview Shelter available to the youth of the Town of McCandless as a venue for baseball and softball games and practices; and,

Whereas, Article IV, Section 2(k) of the Allegheny County Home rule Charter vests County Council with the power and duty by ordinance to lease or permit the use of County property.

The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:

SECTION 1. Incorporation of the Preamble.

The provisions set forth in the preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.

SECTION 2. Authorization to permit the Use of County Real Property.

County Council does hereby authorize the use of the field adjacent to to Lakeview Shelter located on N Ridge Drive in the County’s North Park, as a venue for baseball and softball activities coordinated by the Town of McCandless. The appropriate County officers and officials are authorized to take such action as is necessary to carry out the purposes of the authorization granted herein.



SECTION 3. Term of Authorization.

The Authorization set forth in Section 2 above shall commence on March 1, 2016, and shall end on February 28, 2019. However, the authorization is extended for up to two additional one-year terms beyond February 28, 2019, if the Cou...
