An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing the naming of the access road adjacent to the Nurses Memorial Monument in the County’s South Park as “Nurses Lane.”

Whereas, The Department of Parks is requesting the designation of the unnamed access road along Corrigan Drive in the County’s South Park, as “Nurses Lane”,

Whereas, The Department of Parks wishes to install a street sign identifying the access road as “Nurses Lane”,

Whereas, The Department of Parks will absorb all costs related to the installation of said street sign,

Whereas, The Department of Parks recognizes the courage and bravery of our country’s military nurses, recognizing the care they’ve provided to our soldiers, from World War I to present,

Whereas, Article IV, Section 2(j) of the Allegheny County Home rule Charter vests County Council with the power and duty by ordinance to accept grants, gifts or donations of real or personal property.

The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:

SECTION 1. Incorporation of the Preamble.

The provisions set forth in the preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.

SECTION 2. Authorization to permit the Donation of Personal Property.

County Council does hereby authorize the naming of the access road adjacent to the Nurses Memorial Monument in the County’s South Park as “Nurses Lane”, and installing a street sign identifying the road as “Nurses Lane”. The appropriate County officers and officials are authorized to take such action as is necessary to carry out the purposes of the authorization granted herein.

SECTION 3. Severability. If any provision of this Ordinance shall be determined to be unlawful, invalid, void or unenforceable, then that provision shall be considered severable from the remaining provisions of this Ordinance, which shall be in full force and effect.
