WHEREAS, Mr. Jerry (Genaro) Chiappinelli, of Penn Hills, will become the National Commander of the Italian American War Veterans of the United States at their 81st National Convention in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, August 4-6, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chiappinelli grew up in East Liberty and graduated from Central Catholic High School. In 1965, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam Era; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chiappinelli has been a member of the Italian American War Veterans of the United States since 1982. He served on the Board of Managers of Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum from 1988 to 1995. He is Chairman of the ITAM Washington Conference; Commander of ITAM Post One, Allegheny County; a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He served as President of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Progressive Lodge 104 and as a Veterans Benefits Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chiappinelli, an insurance agent with Chiappinelli and Associates, is founder and owner of the Steel City Angels, a professional dance company and he has produced countless stage shows throughout Allegheny County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby congratulate Mr. Jerry (Genaro) Chiappinelli upon the occasion of being named the National Commander of the Italian American War Veterans of the United States, and we recognize Mr. Chiappinelli for his lifetime achievements and service to our country, the Italian American War Veterans of the United States and Allegheny County.
