This Certificate of Recognition is presented to the Washington and Finch families during the occasion of the Washington Finch Family Reunion July 21-24, 2016. The family will celebrate the life and union of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Mary Washington. Mary Etta Finch was born on August 7, 1916, in New Brockton, Alabama, and passed away on October 13, 2012, at the age of 96 of natural causes in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Her husband, Richard Washington, passed away on April 27, 2000. Mary was the 4th child out of 15 born to Odis and Robert Finch. She grew up, attended school up to the sixth grade at the Coffee County School and found salvation at the Church of God In Christ, all in New Brockton. Mary Etta met Richard Washington at a church rally and they married on August 8th, 1937. Their union bore nine children, Jonathan, Carver, Minnie Pearl, Fares, Reuben, Robert, and Evelyn born in Alabama; in 1950 the family moved to Deland, Florida where Ruth was born, and six months later they moved to Lake Wales, Florida where Richard was born in 1953. The family remained in Florida until 1957 when Mr. Washington, who for years worked as a migrant, found permanent employment in Pennsylvania, first near Red Lion, then later in York. At the time of their passing, Mr. and Mrs. Washington had 33 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren. We welcome the Washington Finch families to North Park on July 22, 2016 and we offer our sincere wishes for a wonderful celebration during the 2016 Washington Finch Family Reunion.
