This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Ms. Nan Moone Currington, a longtime resident of the Hill District in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, upon the momentous occasion of her 100th birthday. Ms. Currington was born on July 23, 1916. She graduated from Fifth Avenue High School, earned her undergraduate degree from Cheyney State College, and her master’s degree in education from Bucknell University. She is a life member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority. She was married to the late Robert Ellsworth Currington, a WWII veteran, teacher and principal for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Ms. Currington also served the Pittsburgh Public Schools as a teacher and Vice-Principal of Fifth Avenue High School, Vice-Principal of Langley High School, and Dean of Students at Greenway Middle School. We honor Ms. Currington for her longevity, which can be attributed to her positive outlook on life, and we wish her and her family all the best as she celebrates her 100th birthday.
