This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Ms. Marjorie Gladys Miller upon the momentous occasion of her 100th birthday. Ms. Miller was born on October 1, 1916 and was raised in North Braddock before moving to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1940. She was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Department of Property and Supplies in 1943, and later in the State Insurance Department. She retired from the Commonwealth’s General State Authority in 1971 after 28 years of dedicated service. She was actively involved in politics and provided assistance for the late U.S. Senator Arlen Specter, and served as a local Committeewoman and Judge of Elections. During her 68-year residency in Harrisburg, Marjorie was actively involved in her community, including Flag Bearer of the Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star (Astro Chapter No. 380) (1940-2008); Ladies’ Oriental Shrine Es Said Court No. 29 (Harrisburg), Past High Priestess; and Daughters of the Nile, Ozemb Temple No. 52 (Harrisburg). In 2008, Marjorie returned to Allegheny County to live with family in Forward Township. We honor Ms. Marjorie G. Miller for her longevity, which can be attributed to her positive outlook on life, and we wish her and her family all the best as she celebrates her 100th birthday.
