Proclamation thanking The Honorable Grace Stanko for her service as President of the North Hills Council of Governments.

WHEREAS, because of her leadership, confidence and community presence, The Honorable Grace Stanko was elected November 2003 and re-elected in 2007, 2011 and 2015 by the residents of Ward 5 of Ross Township to serve as their representative; and
WHEREAS, appointed to the board of the North Hills Council of Governments (NHCOG) in 2004, elected Secretary/Treasurer for 2010-2011, elected Vice-President for 2012-2013, Commissioner Stanko is the first and only woman to serve as President in the 42-year history of the organization from 2014-2015; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure, Grace worked tirelessly to address regional concerns, improve communications, coordination, and intergovernmental cooperation, and facilitate cooperative agreements for the 19 member communities that make up the NHCOG; and
WHEREAS, Grace is founder and first president of the Ross Township Business and Economic Development Corporation and founder and president of the Perrysville Business Association. She also served as chair of the Women’s Business Network North Hills Chapter and as an ambassador with the Northern Allegheny Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, founder and first president of the Ross Township Historical Society, Grace was instrumental in restarting the Society and helping to research, write and produce the 127-page Ross Township Bi-Centennial History Book in 2009; and
WHEREAS, as the 2001 recipient of the prestigious Athena Leadership Award presented by the Northern Allegheny County Chamber of Commerce, Grace was honored for her professional excellence, community service and mentorship;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and thank The Honorable Grace Stanko for her service as the President of the North Hills Council of Governments and to the enhancement of the wellbeing of Allegheny County...
