Proclamation congratulating Mr. Salvatore “Sal” R. Caito upon the occasion of his retirement after 38 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, after 38 years of providing leadership, guidance and loyalty to the Allegheny County Controller’s Office, Mr. Salvatore “Sal” R. Caito, will retire from Allegheny County on September 30, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Sal earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Duquesne University, and on April 10, 1978, he began his distinguished career with the Allegheny County Controller’s Office as an Audit Clerk; and
WHEREAS, in 1981, Sal became an Auditor and worked his way up to Senior Accountant in 1987, to Assistant Manager of Accounting in 1990 and Manager of Accounting in 1992. As Manager of Accounting, Sal planned, organized, coordinated and directed the general accounting and control activities of the Accounting Division of the Controller’s Office; and
WHEREAS, the depth of Sal’s knowledge and the breadth of his experience have contributed greatly to the successful functioning of the Allegheny County Controller’s Office; and
WHEREAS, to his fellow employees, Sal will be remembered as the consummate professional with a quiet demeanor and passion for the accounting profession, an effective leader and outstanding mentor. In all areas of service, Sal has been an inspiration to others and an example of excellence;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Allegheny County Council, in conjunction with Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner, hereby wishes to honor and recognize Mr. Salvatore “Sal” R. Caito for his 38 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Allegheny County and to wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
