Proclamation thanking The Honorable Nick Kotik for his 14 years of dedicated service to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, throughout the history of Allegheny County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, talented officials who possess great knowledge and determination exhibit exemplary leadership in elected positions and contribute invaluably to our communities, our country and our world; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Nickolas M. “Nick” Kotik was elected in November 2002 and sworn in to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on January 7, 2003 as the state representative for the 45th Legislative District. Because of his leadership, confidence and community presence, he was re-elected to District 45 of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure in office, Representative Kotik worked tirelessly for improvements in the fields of health care, education, public safety, and transportation. He has served as the House Democratic Chairman of the Gaming Oversight Committee and as House Democratic Vice-Chairman of the Ethics Committee; and

WHEREAS, Representative Kotik, a McKees Rocks native, earned his bachelor’s degree in public administration from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1972. He spent over 20 years working for Allegheny County as a payroll accountant and property assessor. Representative Kotik later worked as an aide to the late state Representative Fred Trello, and as manager of Robinson Township. He formerly served as a council member, controller, treasurer and ordinance officer for McKees Rocks Borough; and

WHEREAS, while he is not seeking re-election and will leave office on November 30, 2016, Representative Kotik will be remembered for performing his duties with compassion, professionalism and a commitment to those he served;
